The beautiful (and sometimes willful) Duchess of Alba invites you to a ball in honor of her favourite painter, Francisco Goya. Senor Goya had produced fabulous portraits of the Duchess (but she is NOT that maja; you know the one we mean!).
Join the Duchess and the Bay Area English Regency Society celebrate the splendors of Espana as we dance in the perfumed evening air of Madrid. Sample the board, play a game of chance, or simply converse with the grandees of the Spanish court and their friends.
Music provided by the Divertimento Orchestra under the direction of James Langdell. Dance Master Alan Winston will teach and lead the dances.
Costumes admired, but not required. Gifts of comestibles for the table are appreciated. You need not bring a partner.
Saturday, October 10, 2009. 52 Arlington Avenue, Kensington, CA. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., dancing starts at 8:00. Subscriptions are $15 in advance; $20 at the door.
Send checks to BAERS, c/o Vanessa Schnatmeier, 1122 Hudson St., Redwood City, CA 94061. For more information, go to our website:
